Our Founder, Jacqueline Murekatete, Featured in Brooklyn Reader

Our Founder and President, Jacqueline Murekatete, was featured in BK Reader, an online and print media outlet based in Brooklyn, New York. BK Reader covered Jacqueline’s Genocide Prevention Education presentation, which she delivered to 12th grade students at Brooklyn Millenium High School. The presentation was part of an event which was organized by Facing History and Ourselves.

During her talk, Ms. Murekatete candidly shared her personal experience surviving the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. She talked to the students about the dangers of racism, antisemitism, xenophobia and hate. Jacqueline encouraged the students to always stand up for what is right and to recognize the importance of diversity and respecting the basic rights of all people.
