GSF founder Jacqueline Murekatete traveled to Miami Florida to speak to students at Miami Dade college as part of the college’s Genocide prevention and human rights education program. Ms. Murekatete’s presentation was part of the college’s Genocide awareness week, a series of annual programs whose goal is to educate students about the crime of the Genocide and the fact that it continues to take place in our world today.
Prior to Murekatete’s arrival, the students had already studied about different Genocides but told Ms. Murekatete that it was one thing to read about Genocide but another thing to actually meet and listen to a fellow young person who actually survived one. The students expressed gratitude to Ms. Murekatete for having traveled to Miami Dade to share her story and presented her with an award from the school for her efforts to help young people truly understand what Genocide is and what it really means to say Never Again and actually mean it.
