Board of Directors
Stephen Friedman is President of MTV, the world’s premier youth entertainment brand. Under his leadership, MTV has created more top-rated cable series for young viewers than any other network – including “Finding Carter,” “Catfish: The TV Show,” “Teen Wolf,”– and produces the iconic “MTV Video Music Awards.” Friedman also oversees two of the fastest growing television networks in MTV2 and Logo, the leading entertainment brand inspired by the LGBT community.
Friedman has enhanced MTV’s strong commitment to pro-social initiatives. He shepherds its Emmy-winning Look Different campaign, which tackles bias across gender, race, and sexual orientation. Prior to being named to his current role in 2008, Friedman was the General Manager of mtvU, MTV’s channel dedicated to college students, which he started in 2004. In his role, Friedman launched mtvU’s campaign to fight the genocide in Darfur, Darfur Is Dying, which was honored with two Emmy awards, including the 2006 Governor’s Award.
