It is with great sadness that GSF mourns the passing of one of its board members, Jerry Weissman.
Jerry was a wonderful human being who was deeply committed to Holocaust and Genocide prevention education and helping young people to understand the importance of peaceful coexistence with all people.
I first met Jerry a few years ago at the annual Holocaust and Genocide awareness conference organized by the Raritan Valley Community College institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies where Jerry served as the chairperson. Since then, Jerry had invited me several times to speak to students and we developed a wonderful friendship based on our shared commitment to promoting tolerance and respect for basic human rights. It was, therefore, an honor for me when Jerry agreed to be one of Genocide Survivors Foundation board members when we started the organization.
I am deeply saddened by his untimely passing. Through his work, Jerry transformed thousands of lives for the better especially the thousands of young people who were positively impacted by the Holocaust and Genocide prevention education they received thanks to Jerry’s efforts.
Jerry, we miss you so much already and will honor your memory by continuing to work toward a more peaceful and Genocide-free world. Rest in peace.
