GSF founder and president, Jacqueline Murekatete, was invited by Justice Rising International to participate in a program to raise awareness about war and associated mass atrocity crimes in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The program featured an exhibit titled Faces of Courage, which highlighted several personal stories of war survivors in DRC including women and girls who were subjected to rape and other forms of gender based violence.
At the program, GSF founder emphasized the importance of human rights and peace education as well as constructive management of diversity in creating more stable and peaceful societies. She and fellow panelists also emphasized the responsibility and urgency of providing educational and economic empowerment opportunities to help victims and survivors of mass atrocity crimes to rebuild their shattered lives.
